Hello Deer Lakers (and Friends!!)

Last Saturday before the big day and I am sitting at my cottage overlooking my favourite spot in the world!!  This is our family’s 12th Christmas on Deer lake and it gets better every year without fail.

Lots of snow with many more inches sure to arrive which is AWESOME!!. All of the winter enthusiasts would agree. Hard to snowmobile and ski without the white stuff.

Reflecting back on 2025 it has been an interesting year for all of us. I am sure for some they will be glad to move on to 2026 but for the McAllister family it was a good year. Family get togethers and even a trip to Europe made it very memorable .  My son joined the family steel business and is doing very well learning the “tricks” of the trade.  I am hoping his arrival will allow me to enjoy Deer Lake even more as the torch is being passed to someone very capable.

I have seen lots of “chatter” about the state of our roads on the FODL Facebook page.   Although this is not something Friends of Deer Lake (FODL) issue as a Lount Township resident/owner I always try to understand the situation . Every July I attend the Roads Board Meeting not as the President of FODL but as a taxpayer in Lount. I would recommend all Deer Lakers or township of Lount residents attend. GET INVOLVED!!

Thanks to your dues and donations the Friends of Deer Lake “war chest” has some funds available.

Please, if there is anything you would like to see our organization tackle let us know (besides the road!!). Can’t promise the world but if it is something that can help Deer lake your FODL committee would most certainly entertain action. We are always looking for volunteers. Many hands make light work!!

That’s it from the flight deck folks!! Wish all Friends of Deer Lake members, friends and guests a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

See you in 2026!!
